Hello World.

Hi there! Welcome everyone to my blog.

My name is Karen Quinn, and I go by K.M.L. Quinn in the writing world. I grew up in a small seaside village in Co. Donegal (in Ireland) and somehow ended up living the big city life learning how to be a semi-decent writer. This wasn’t a natural progression: I had no idea what I wanted to do as a functioning adult, but I sort of fell into writing like someone would casually find that they prefer cappuccinos over lattes. Like a mistaken order that suddenly feels like destiny (read that in a needlessly dramatic way, will you). Now, I am a woman in my early thirties who spends her time exploring the Donegal countryside with her dog and lives a life that is dominated by writing and trying to make her tortoise kind of like her.

This blog will be my brutally honest account of my experiences of carving out a career as a writer, as well as specialised tips on how to develop your own writing. Be warned, though: I will not sugar-coat this journey. I will not just share all of my life’s successes for two main reasons: first of all, that would not be fair on you, particularly if you are just on the early stages of considering a career like this; and secondly and most honestly, my failures are just so much more interesting.

So buckle up, friends. We’re in for one hell of a ride.
